 The Founder.
Engineer, War Hero, and Rocket Scientist.Action Electronics was established in 1972 by D.K. Hankins. "Always keep your sense of humor!" Prior to this, the founder of Action Electronics is a decorated veteran of the Korean War, including the Purple Heart. Serving with the 1st Cavalry Div., 7th Cavalry Regiment, (Yes, General Custers Regiment) as FO, HQ Intel, and MSgt Training. Wounded first time on 09 August, when the North Koreans hurled five full divisions at the Naktong defenders near Taegu. 7th Cav was first in Pyongyang, and in most all other major campaigns of the Korean war.  The
ONLY THING WE HAVE TO FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF-nameless, unreasoning, unjustified
terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. FDR
1933 and other
fears....Afterwards was college and becoming an electronic engineer. Then in the early 1960's he was involved as a rocket scientist and in the re-fit of the minuteman missiles around the country. Soon after working for General Dynamics on the Thor Missile project out of Vandenberg Air Force Base. Then for General Dynamics Convair aerospace division in Rochester NY working on the space shuttle. Back to Convair San Diego CA. The next assignment was going to be at Cape Canaveral working with NASA. Florida was too far so Action Electronics was opened in 1972 as a Lafayette Radio Electronics affiliate store.

In the late 70's Action Electronics broke its ties with Lafayette and went
fully
independent as we still are today. We have grown by keeping our honesty is
the best policy and although having our nationwide warehousing network with
over 160 locations and over 600 thousand products to draw from, we still keep our family
owned business attitude.
